HEROES - Group that we follow throughout the story on their courageous adventure.

Alex Richmond - Hero and focus of the story. Starts off as a loser with no job, prospects or a decent life. Everyone hates him, or so he thinks, until he wakes up in hospital with some bad news. Thinking his already bad life is over he sets to change himself for the better. Has a unique gift where he can go into his dreams and make things happen which then happen in reality. Sets off on an incredible journey to rescue the ones he loves, ultimately it’s an adventure into his dreams.

Leon Hunter - Alex becomes this character because he needs to convince the bad guys he’s also bad so he can gain entry to the Neverworld. Has to do bad things as part of the bad guys request. Stays as this character for the rest of series because of his change and feels the character is stronger than Alex.

Bobby Richmond - Step brother to Alex. Unlike Alex, he is very popular at school and is loved by everyone. His parents respect and treat him differently to Alex. Becomes Alex’s co-adventurer on his quest and starts looking up to him as the hero. Begins to respect Alex increasingly as the story goes on.

Charlotte Taylor - Third co-adventurer to the boys. Old girlfriend to Bobby. Helps them out when they need a lift to an important person's house. They find out Charlotte is the Granddaughter of this important person and asks to go on adventure with the boys, to which they agree. She becomes an important role in the adventure.

Alice Vickers - Daughter of Albert, leader of the Knights, and love interest of Alex. Becomes the groups 4th companion after they take back the castle Alder.

GUARDIANS OF LIGHT - Group that create the seal to the Neverworld.

Isabelle Taylor - Bella to her friends. Grandmother of Charlotte and the important person I mentioned. We find out that she’s the leader and creator of a group called the Guardians of Light. A group brought together to lock the Never-ones down below. She is a very important person in the story as it’s because of her that Alex and the group go on this quest to find the remaining Guardians.

Georgia Richards - A elderly woman with a small and kind face and 1st Guardian that we find. She’s adamant at first but they explain why she's important and she agrees.

Daria Blackley - A younger woman than Georgia but still with wisdom in her face. She is our 2nd Guardian.

Graham Bradley - Army Colonel hidden in an army base. Has a look of a war torn soldier. Very knowledgeable and not to be messed with. He is our 3rd Guardian. 

Eleanor Vickers - The hardest one to find and the most important Guardian in my point of view. She is our 4th Guardian. Sister to Albert Vickers.

Peter Crawley - An elderly ex army soldier with slick backed hair who the group find by sheer luck. He is our 5th Guardian.  

David Porter - The companions find a man who they think is David, inside a run down shack in the desert but the real David is in fact in a place called the Solace of Silence, a place of meditation in the mind where no sound is heard. Alex alone has to convince this man to come back to reality and join the Guardians. He is our 6th Guardian.

Yvonne Ropey - A weird woman who went missing after the portal was locked. She lives in a tree-house, inside a secluded forest away from the world with her mad twin sister.

Katherine Yardley - Traitor Guardian who changes to the bad side and sacrifices her part of the seal, ultimately breaking part of the portal to the Neverworld.

EVERYONE ELSE - People we meet briefly but still have an important role.

Violet Ropey - Mad twin sister to Yvonne Ropey. Resides in a tree-house cut off from the world. 

Andrea Richmond - Mother to Alex/Leon and Bobby. She’s the reason why the boys are on this quest. She goes missing while Alex is in hospital; we find out she’s been taken to the Neverworld by an unknown cult. Hasn’t got a large part in the story but all we know is that she is important otherwise the boys wouldn’t risk their lives to save her.

Damien Hunter - Father to Alex and husband to Andrea. Goes missing before Alex is born, we find out he becomes a Follower and is supposedly locked in the Neverworld with his masters. Alex is hoping that when he rescues his mom, he’ll rescue his dad too. Has a similar look to Leon.

Ralph Richmond - Low life step father to Alex and father to Bobby, also second husband to Andrea. Treats Alex badly all his life. Drinks heavily and abuses Alex’s mother. She’s confused and lonely because of her first husband, Alex’s dad, going missing so she marries Ralph, not for love but so Alex has a father.

DR Taylor - Son of Bella and father of Charlotte. Not much we know about this man other than he looks after Alex while he’s in a hospital.

Henry Fothergill - Old man in the same hospital as Alex. An ex member of the Knights of Alder and friend to Bella. He tells Alex who took his mother and where he can go to find some answers.

KNIGHTS OF ALDER : ALDERS CASTLE - Group of allies to the heroes. They are situated in a castle.

Albert Vickers - Leader of the Knights of Alder, a large group of good guys vowing to stop evil and protect those who need it. We meet him first when Alex and the group are looking for Eleanor at the Castle Alder. He’s Eleanor’s brother.

Harry Farley AKA COMP - Computer geek, all round good guy and member of the Knights. Has an irritating stutter but becomes great friends with the group after he saves their lives from Followers and helps them take back the Knights base.

George Grayson AKA Grinder - Scottish hard head and very rude at first. Member of the Knights and weapon maker hence the name Grinder.

Sofia Rosecliffe - Beautiful woman although very dangerous member of the Knights.

Morag Malone - Not much we know about this woman other than she’s a small woman with a black belt in jujitsu and a member of the Knights.

KNIGHTS OF ALDER : KNIGHTS GUILD - These Knights are situated in Havenhollow city.

Maria Grant - Aunt to Alex and Bobby, sister to Andrea Richmond. Member of the Knights Guild of Alder.

Scott Lowell - Member of the Knights at the Knights Guild in Havenhollow. Husband to Molly.

Molly Lowell - Member of the Knights at the Knights Guild in Havenhollow. Wife to Scott and keen hair and beauty expert.

Ron Davies - Large muscly member of the Knights at the Knights Guild.

Barry Stanton AKA Baz - Another member of the Knights at the Knights Guild. Has a keen interest in the activity of the Followers in Havenhollow.

Julia Jones - Not much we know of this woman other that she’s a member of the Knights.

ENEMIES - Villains of our story.

The Never-ones - Evil black cloaked being beings with red eyes that rule the Neverworld and want to rule the Outerworld, our world. Not much we know about these character at the moment but we know they are pure evil.

The Followers - Worshippers to the Never-ones and most loyal servants. While their masters are locked in the Neverworld they are growing an army so that when the Never-ones do escape they’ll go to war with their masters and win. Can be distinctly spotted by the dark robes and Never-one emblem, a double bladed dagger piercing a shield, burnt into their heads.

Grand Follower - Leader of the Followers, has dark robes with horns on hood and a large dark emblem around his neck as well as on head.

SPIRITUAL GUIDES - We meet these characters in dream form.

The Oracle of Dreams - Mythical being that can enters a person’s dreams, past, present or future and change or enhance them. Can become anything a person wants. Alex always sees it as a beggar or an elderly man with long beard and white robes. Hides a deep, dark secret. Guides the heroes on their quest.

Mysterious Girl /Conscience - Alex first see’s this girl in a dream at the hospital and then again at a café, it’s actually the Oracle in disguise guiding him to his spiritual whereabouts. She becomes a guide as well to the group.

Richmond Home - As it simply says in the name, this is Alex and Bobby’s family home but because abused by his stepdad, Alex never really sees it as home.

Merry Springs Hospital - The hospital in which Alex wakes up after blacking out on the night of his 18th birthday.

The Outerworld - This is the heroes world or the world in which humans inhabit. The group go on an extreme adventure throughout the Outerworld.

The Neverworld - Evil place below the Outerworld in which many creatures, death and the Never-ones reside. Alex has to go there to rescue his family.

Isabelle’s Home - Family home of Isabelle Taylor. Grandmother to Charlotte. It’s here that we find out about the Guardians of Light and thus the journey begins.

12 Healey Court, Bywater, Lichdenshire - Home to Georgia Richards and the first Guardian we find. Just by luck and a kind barman, we find this woman situated in a building at the end of a tunnel below a pub.

Easthall, Whitebeach - Home to Daria Blackley and second Guardian. She’s actually found by accident, hidden below a church.

Fenterton, Goldbarrow - Home or hideaway to Graham Bradley and third Guardian. This is actually an army base and Graham is a Captain here. Alex manages to get his way in using his newfound mind powers.

22 Hershey Drive, Riverham, Starrycourt - Home to Eleanor Vickers and fourth Guardian. Although this is her home, we don’t find her here. She’s currently residing in Alder Castle.

67 Reeds way, Barton, Humberton - Home to Peter Crawley and fifth Guardian. His home looks like a run down building in a bomb site but thanks to the clever minds of the group, we find that he lives under the house in an underground bunker.

Wellmarsh, Havenfield - Home to David Porter and sixth Guardian. Again, his home looks like a small shack and they find him inside but in fact it’s just a ghost of the real man. The real David is in meditation in the Solace of Silence.

44 Popwell acre, Maplewood, Chesterton - Home to Yvonne Ropey and seventh Guardian. Although we don’t find her actual home here, we do find her situated in a self built tree house in a fenced off forest with her odd twin sister.

Alder Stop - Hidden hideout for the Knights of Alder, situated below Alder’s castle, at the side of Alder’s Hill. Alex first finds out about the Knight’s here.

Alder’s Castle - Knight’s of Alder main base. Alex helps the Knight’s take it back from the Followers who have been residing and in return they find Eleanor.

Havenhollow - Main city and capital of the Outerworld. This place plays a big part in the story because Alex has to become a Follower here to get into the Neverworld.

The Knight’s Guild - Knight’s base situated in Havenhollow. It’s here that we meet Marie, Alex and Bobby’s Aunt.

The Solace of Silence - Place of silence and tranquility hidden in the right person’s mind. Alex enters and finds David Porter here.

Havenhollow Chapel - Secret base to the Followers, situated in Havenhollow.

The Room of Fears - Mystical room in the Knights Stop, guarded by a demon that feeds on your fears.

The Oracle’s Dream Chamber -  A place Alex has to go to in his mind to find the answers he needs.
